Hey there Reader,
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
Before we get into this week's newsletter, here's a friendly reminder to carve out as little as 15 minutes today to prep something that will make your week a little easier.
As I'm writing this email (slightly panicked because I realized I hadn't sent my newsletter yet 😅), I'm about to prep some chicken strips for buffalo chicken wraps and salads. It'll become today's lunch and give me a head start on meals for the beginning of next week. Future me will be very grateful.
Also, a reminder that our next Mocktails & Meal Prep session is happening next Sunday July 26th at 9:30 a.m. If you've been meaning to set aside dedicated time to meal prep, I'd love for you to join us!
The recipes have been finalized and will be sent out shortly. Here's a sneak peek at what's on the menu.
Okay, here we go - time for Sizzle, Crunch, Scoop!
- SIZZLE: Cooking hacks, shortcuts, and tools/products I love.
- CRUNCH: Easy meal & snack ideas + practical tips to keep you inspired.
- SCOOP: Real talk on nutrition trends, mindset shifts, and building a healthier relationship with food.

A Processed Food That's Actually Worth Buying

If you've been around here for a while, you've probably heard me rave about Catelli Protein+ pasta. Well... apparently I'm not the only fan because they've just released even more shapes!
No, this isn't sponsored—I genuinely buy this for my own pantry because it's one of those products that gives you a lot of nutritional bang for your buck.
Yes, it's a processed food. And that's exactly why I wanted to highlight it.
"Processed" doesn't automatically mean unhealthy. In fact, some processed foods can make it much easier to meet your nutrition goals.

Protein pasta is a great example. Compared to regular pasta, it provides more protein and fibre, helping you stay fuller for longer while making it easier to build a balanced meal—especially on busy weeknights.
The best part? It tastes like regular pasta. No chalky texture or strange aftertaste, which means it's an easy swap the whole family can enjoy.
If you're looking to build a pantry that makes healthy eating easier, this is one product I'd definitely recommend keeping on hand. Pair it with your favourite pasta sauce, toss in some veggies, add a protein if you'd like, and dinner is on the table in 20 minutes.

Rescue Overripe Summer Fruit with 5-Minute Chia Jam
Berries getting a little too soft? Instead of tossing them, turn them into chia jam!
It's one of my favourite ways to rescue summer fruit that's past its prime but still perfectly safe to eat.
Simply mash the fruit, heat it for a few minutes if you'd like, stir in chia seeds, and let it sit until thickened. That's it!
You can use it in so many ways:
- Swirl it into yogurt parfaits or cottage cheese.
- Spread it on toast
- Layer it into overnight oats.
- Spoon it over pancakes/waffles.
- Use it in homemade popsicles.

It’s an easy way to reduce food waste, stretch your grocery budget, and enjoy the best flavours of summer a little longer.
Pro tip: Make a double batch and freeze it in small containers so you can enjoy summer berries long after the season is over.

The Identity Shift That Changed Everything
Growing up, I was a competitive synchronized swimmer. I could swim two full lengths of the pool underwater, trained for hours every day, and was probably in the best shape of my life. But ask me to run even one kilometre? Forget it.
I convinced myself my body just wasn’t built for running, and I made peace with that story.
Fast forward a few years, and something changed. I started running—not because I suddenly loved it, but because I kept showing up and wanted to challenge myself. Somewhere along the way, I started saying, “I am a runner.”
That simple shift changed everything.
Now, when it’s time to head to bed, fuel up, drink enough water, or get out for a workout after a long day at my desk, those choices support the kind of person I believe I am and want to be. I don’t train because I have to—I train because it’s what a runner does.
Am I breaking records? Heck no.
Am I enjoying the process and feeling motivated by becoming that person? Absolutely.
James Clear talks about this in Atomic Habits: lasting habits are easier when they become part of your identity, not just another item on your to-do list.
Maybe your identity isn’t a “runner.” Maybe it’s:
- Someone who cooks dinner most nights.
- A person who prioritizes their health.
- Someone who never skips breakfast.
- A weekend adventurer.
- An active grandparent.
- A parent who models healthy habits.
- Someone who takes care of theirselves.
The habits become a lot easier when they simply reinforce who you are or want to be.
As always, if you have any questions or need any additional support, feel free to hit reply.
Stay well,
