🍳 Sizzle, Crunch, Scoop - No. 57

Hey there Reader,

Popping into your inbox again this week with a newsletter full of practical tips, inspiration, and insights to support you on your healthy eating journey.

As we head into the weekend, I’m especially excited to be meeting many of you at my first-ever in-person meal prep workshop!!

If you missed out on a spot, don’t worry—there will be more opportunities coming.

You can also join me for the next Mocktails & Meal Prep session on April 26th from 3:30–5:00pm. It’s a similar experience, but virtual—so you get to cook right in your own kitchen with recipes that are fully customizable to what you have on hand.

It’s also super flexible: you can join as a member or drop in for a single session (for only $20!).

Here’s a little sneak peek of what we’ll be making👇

Okay, here we go - time for Sizzle, Crunch, Scoop!

  • SIZZLE: Cooking hacks, shortcuts, and tools/products I love.
  • CRUNCH: Easy meal & snack ideas + practical tips to keep you inspired.
  • SCOOP: Real talk on nutrition trends, mindset shifts, and building a healthier relationship with food.

Common Weeknight Dinner Mistake #8: Not Cleaning Up As You Go

One of the sneakiest ways weeknight cooking becomes stressful? Letting dishes, bowls, and utensils pile up while you cook.

By the time dinner is ready, your kitchen feels chaotic, cleanup feels overwhelming, and that “relaxing” meal you were looking forward to turns into a post-dinner panic.

The reframe: clean as you cook. A few small habits can make a big difference:

  • Wash or rinse dishes while waiting for something to cook.
  • Wipe counters as you go instead of leaving it all for later.
  • Keep a bowl for scraps — you’ll cut down on trips to the trash or compost.
  • Stack or dry dishes right after washing to keep the space clear.

These small habits make cooking feel calmer, faster, and more enjoyable — and cleanup after dinner doesn’t feel like a marathon.

My goal is to help you build habits that make cooking feel manageable, not overwhelming.

Don’t miss the final weeknight dinner mistake — coming your way in next week’s email!

CRUNCH 🍿

Your New Go-To for Getting More Veggies

They’re fresh, crunchy, super satisfying—and honestly never boring. Even better if you’ve got avocado on hand...

Rice wraps!

What I love most is how flexible they are, which makes them easy to turn into a weekly staple. You can mix and match based on what you already have:

  • Grain: rice, vermicelli, or soba noodles (has extra fibre!)
  • Protein: shrimp, leftover chicken, ground pork or beef, tofu
  • Sauce: peanut sauce, spicy yogurt or mayo, or a simple mix of rice vinegar + fish sauce

It’s one of those meals that looks impressive but comes together quickly—especially if you’ve prepped a few ingredients ahead of time. It’s also perfect for DIY family meals—just lay everything out and let everyone build their own, no real cooking required and easy to adapt to different tastes and preferences.

Why Cravings Keep Showing Up—and How to Respond Differently

Every now and then, Mackenzie (an amazing registered psychotherapist!!) and I get together to chat—and we always end up having the best conversations.

In one of our recent ones, we unpacked something that comes up all the time with our clients: cravings.

We touched on how cravings aren’t about “willpower”—they can be biological (you’re actually hungry), psychological (you’ve been restricting), or emotional (stress, boredom, comfort).
And when you try to fight them or “power through”… they usually come back stronger.

The big shift we talked about? Seeing cravings as information, not something to ignore or judge.

👉 Watch the full video for a full breakdown + practical examples on how to actually respond in the moment.

As always, if you have any questions or need any additional support, feel free to hit reply, I'd love to connect.

Wishing you a wonderful end to your week,
