🍳 Sizzle, Crunch, Scoop - No. 52

Hey there Reader,

Another Thursday, another newsletter — and I’ve gotta say, I’m proud of myself for getting back to writing these emails and actually staying consistent (so far, at least 😅).

I really missed taking an hour to pause, reflect on the key messages I want to share with you, and flex a little creative writing muscle.

Let’s celebrate the small efforts we make toward consistent change — because those wins? They really do add up. We rock! 💪

Okay, now... on to Sizzle, Crunch, Scoop!

  • SIZZLE: Cooking hacks, shortcuts, and tools/products I love.
  • CRUNCH: Easy meal & snack ideas + practical tips to keep you inspired.
  • SCOOP: Real talk on nutrition trends, mindset shifts, and building a healthier relationship with food.

Common Weeknight Dinner Mistake #3: Empty Fridge or Pantry

Picture this. You just got home from work. It’s 5:30pm. You head over to the kitchen and open the fridge only to realize… there’s nothing there for dinner.

This often leads to last-minute takeout decisions — not because you want to, but because there aren’t any good options to work with.

The reframe: stock your kitchen with healthy staples for easy meal assembly.

You don’t need a fridge full of perfectly planned meals. You need a few reliable basics that can quickly turn into dinner with minimal effort.

A few ways to make this easier:

  • Keep versatile proteins on hand (eggs, canned beans/lentils, tofu, frozen fish, rotisserie chicken).
  • Stock easy carbs that cook quickly or are already prepared (rice, pasta, tortillas, potatoes, cooked grains).
  • Rely on frozen and shelf-stable veggies to fill in the gaps when fresh runs out.
  • Have a short list of “always-on-hand” meals you can make from pantry staples.

When your kitchen is stocked with flexible ingredients, dinner becomes about mixing and matching — not starting from scratch or scrambling at the last minute.

My goal is to help you build a kitchen that supports your capacity and your schedule, so weeknight meals feel possible even on the busiest days.

CRUNCH 🍿

The Homemade Crunchwrap Supreme Experiment

This version was made completely from scratch — right down to the cheese sauce, tortillas, and filling — but it absolutely doesn’t have to be. (Click the image to watch the full video.)

Shortcuts are what make meals like this realistic on busy nights.

Think of it as a layered, toasted quesadilla (aka a homemade crunchwrap supreme)

Save time by using:

  • Rotisserie chicken or leftover meat
  • Canned refried beans
  • Store-bought tortillas
  • Pre-shredded cheese

Once you start thinking in formulas instead of recipes, dinner becomes much easier to throw together — and decision fatigue drops dramatically.

Let this be your reminder to check the fridge before defaulting to takeout.

I shared a reel earlier this week showing exactly how it comes together. It took a lot of behind-the-scenes work, so every like, comment, or share genuinely helps more busy people feel confident cooking at home.

Your Health Is Not Defined by the Scale

Body size alone does not define your health. Your behaviours, patterns, and daily habits carry far more influence than chasing a smaller number on the scale.

I will always stand behind this: women deserve to feel confident in their bodies while building habits that are supportive and sustainable.

Restricting food in an effort to meet society’s standards often pulls you further away from your body’s needs, and it’s rarely something you can maintain long term.

What isn’t talked about enough is how harmful this cycle can be for both physical health and overall wellbeing.

What if the goal shifted from “How can I lose weight?” to “How can I get back to prioritizing the habits that support my health?”

Because health is not built through deprivation — it’s built through consistency.

If this is a message you needed to hear, I expand on it in a recent post and share what I recommend focusing on instead of weight loss alone.

As always, if you have any questions or need any additional support, feel free to hit reply or book an appointment.

Stay well,
